• • Provide indirect light: Place your fern near an east-facing window or a few feet away from a bright south/west window.
  • Avoid direct sunlight: Harsh, direct sun will quickly burn the delicate fronds.
  • Protect from drafts: Keep the plant away from air conditioners, heating vents, and cold doors.

• • Check soil frequently: Water thoroughly as soon as the surface of the soil begins to feel dry to the touch.
  • Keep it damp, not soggy: Ensure the soil remains evenly moist. Never let the pot sit in standing water, which causes root rot.
  • Use well-draining soil: A peat-based potting mix blended with perlite is ideal for retaining moisture without waterlogging.

• • Boost the humidity: Boston ferns thrive in 50% to 80% humidity. Use a humidifier, place the pot on a tray filled with pebbles and water, or mist the fronds daily.
  • Maintain steady temperatures: Keep the environment between 15°C and 24°C (60°F to 75°F). Keep it away from sudden temperature drops.

• • Fertilise lightly: Apply a balanced houseplant fertiliser diluted to half-strength once a month during the active growing season (spring and summer).
  • Skip winter feeding: Do not fertilise during the autumn and winter months when growth naturally slows down.
  • Trim old growth: Snip off yellow or brown fronds at the base of the plant to encourage fresh, bushy new growth.
